This micromount shows Fülöppite in a contrasting, predominantly dark grey to black matrix with light whitish-grey mineral areas. The fine mineralized zones are distributed irregularly across the surface and display a subtle lustre in places. This unique specimen originates from the Wet Swine Mine in Cumbria, United Kingdom.

Geology & Origin

Fülöppite is a rare lead-antimony sulfosalt typically associated with hydrothermal ore mineralization. The Wet Swine Mine in Cumbria is one of the historic mining localities of northern England and is known for a variety of ore and associated minerals. Such mineralization formed from mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids circulating through fractures and cavities in the host rock and depositing their mineral content there.
