Geology & Origin

Fraipontite is a rare zinc-aluminium phyllosilicate of the kaolinite-serpentine group and forms as a secondary mineral in the oxidation zones of zinc-bearing deposits. The Silver Bill Mine in Cochise County, Arizona, is a polymetallic deposit where various secondary zinc minerals occur within the oxidized ore zones.
