Geology & origin
Fluorite is a halide mineral with the chemical composition CaF₂ and forms in hydrothermal veins as well as in association with various ore and gangue mineralizations. It is characterized by its commonly cubic crystal forms and wide range of colors, which are caused by trace elements and lattice defects. Namibia is one of the well known sources of Fluorite and produces material with strong colors and diverse appearances.
