This flat presents a characteristic selection of Pandoraite, Andersonite and Zippeite from the Pandora Mine, Utah, USA. The specimens mainly show flat to massive uranium bearing mineralization with varying shades of yellow, yellow green to green, accompanied by light coloured, partly chalky surface coatings that contrast clearly with the darker host rock. Many pieces show strong UV reactivity, making this flat particularly illustrative and attractive for collectors. Geology & Origin
The Pandora Mine is one of the classic uranium localities in Utah and is well known for its wide range of secondary uranium minerals. Pandoraite, Andersonite and Zippeite form in the oxidation zone of uranium rich deposits through the alteration of primary uranium phases by carbonate and sulfate bearing solutions. These processes result in typical, often fluorescent mineral assemblages that have made the locality internationally recognized and an important reference site for secondary uranium mineralization.
The flat shown in the pictures will be shipped with the corresponding box and, if applicable, folding boxes. These may be partially used, show signs of wear, and have multiple labels or markings.
