Natrozippeite and Orthoserpierite crystals, UV-active from the Pandora Mine, Utah, USA – 1 unique flat

Natrozippeite and Orthoserpierite crystals from the Pandora Mine in Utah, USA, offered as 1 unique flat. The flat contains several individual specimens that are sold together. Yellow to yellow-green and turquoise-green mineral zones form contrasting surfaces on the host rock and represent typical appearances of secondary uranium minerals from oxidized deposits. Under UV light, the minerals show a clear reaction, making this flat especially appealing to collectors of UV-active minerals.

Geology & Origin

The Pandora Mine in Utah is well known for a wide range of rare secondary uranium minerals formed by the weathering of primary uranium ores. Natrozippeite and Orthoserpierite develop under oxidizing near-surface conditions. These minerals typically occur as coatings, crusts, or crystalline aggregates on host rock and are often strongly UV-active. Such specimens provide an excellent illustration of the complex geochemical processes within uranium deposits of the Colorado Plateau.

The flat shown in the pictures will be shipped with the corresponding box and, if applicable, folding boxes. These may be partially used, show signs of wear, and have multiple labels or markings.
