This micromount displays white Fluorapophyllite crystals in a small cavity within the gray matrix. The fine crystals form a clearly visible, sparkling crystal group and contrast well with the surrounding rock due to their pale color.

Geology & Origin

Aris near Windhoek, Namibia, is a well-known mineral locality in alkaline rocks and is particularly noted for its diverse mineral assemblage. Fluorapophyllite forms as a late-stage hydrothermal mineral in fractures and cavities, where mineral-rich fluids allow the crystals to develop. The Aris locality is internationally known among collectors for its numerous rare and well-developed mineral species.
