Fluorapophyllite crystals from Poona, India – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This cabinet specimen displays several large, colorless to milky-white Fluorapophyllite crystals with well-developed crystal faces. The crystals are intergrown to form a prominent group and exhibit the vitreous to pearly luster typical of Apophyllite.

Geology & Origin

Poona (Pune), India, is one of the classic localities for Apophyllite and numerous other cavity minerals of the Deccan Trap basalts. Fluorapophyllite forms there as a secondary mineral in fractures and cavities within the basalt from mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids. The region is particularly well known for well-developed and sometimes large crystal groups.
