Fluorapatite crystals from Aris, Namibia – miniature specimen as unique piece
This small cabinet specimen displays numerous fine Fluorapatite crystals densely distributed across the gray-green matrix, giving much of the surface a distinctly crystalline appearance. The pale, slightly lustrous crystals contrast well with the darker host rock and occur across broad areas of the specimen.
Geology & Origin
Aris near Windhoek in Namibia is a well-known mineral locality, particularly for rare minerals associated with alkaline rocks. Fluorapatite is a calcium phosphate mineral containing fluorine and can occur there as part of the locality's mineral-rich rock assemblage. Aris is internationally known among mineral collectors for its diverse and sometimes rare mineral associations.
