This micromount displays Fluoborite in a pale whitish to cream-colored, elongated and compact form. Its fine surface texture and slightly translucent areas give the specimen a characteristic appearance.
Geology & Origin
Fluoborite is a rare magnesium borate containing fluorine and hydroxide and typically occurs in boron-rich rocks affected by metamorphic or contact-metamorphic processes. This specimen comes from Amboy in the Bristol Mountains, Canada, a locality associated with boron-bearing mineral formations.
