Geology & Origin
The Giftgrube near Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines in Alsace is one of Europe's best-known historic mining localities and is renowned for its exceptional diversity of rare secondary minerals. Fluckite and Haidingerite formed in arsenic-rich oxidation zones of former ore veins and are known from only a limited number of localities worldwide. Specimens from this deposit are highly appreciated by mineral collectors.
