Geology & Origin

Fergusonite-(Ce) is a rare oxide mineral containing rare-earth elements, with the designation “(Ce)” indicating cerium as the dominant rare-earth element. Krufter Ofen is part of the volcanically influenced East Eifel region and is known for mineral-rich volcanic ejecta. Complex magmatic processes within these volcanic rocks and their inclusions produced numerous rare mineral species, including minerals containing rare-earth elements.
