Feldspar with Aegirine crystals from Mount Malosa, Zomba, Malawi – miniature specimen as unique piece

This expressive miniature specimen from Mount Malosa displays light Feldspar sections combined with numerous dark Aegirine crystals on contrasting matrix. The prismatic to needle like crystals are clearly visible and give the specimen a distinctive three dimensional structure. The combination of earthy Feldspar matrix and glossy black Aegirine crystals creates a typical and highly collectible pegmatite association from Malawi.

Geology & Origin

Mount Malosa in the Zomba District of Malawi is among the best known alkaline pegmatite and nepheline syenite complexes in Africa. The locality is internationally renowned for its wide variety of rare minerals and exceptional crystal formations. Aegirine commonly forms there in hydrothermally influenced zones and occurs together with Feldspar, Quartz and rare niobium and zirconium silicates. Specimens from Mount Malosa are especially valued by collectors for their mineralogical diversity and characteristic associations.
