This small cabinet specimen features embedded Falkmanite crystals with a dark gray to nearly black metallic appearance. The fine crystals are densely embedded within the ore specimen, producing a distinctly textured surface with silvery reflections in places. The specimen originates from the Bayerland Mine near Waldsassen, Germany, and is offered as a unique piece.

Geology & Origin

Falkmanite is a rare lead-antimony sulfide belonging to the complex sulfosalt minerals. It occurs in hydrothermal ore deposits in association with other lead and antimony minerals. The Bayerland Mine near Waldsassen in Bavaria is a classic German ore locality particularly known for its sulfide and sulfosalt mineralization.
