This small cabinet specimen displays numerous Enargite crystals with a dark grey to nearly black coloration and a distinct metallic luster. The crystals densely cover the matrix and locally show well-defined angular crystal forms, creating a richly textured surface. This unique specimen comes from Cerro de Pasco, Peru.

Geology & Origin

Enargite is a copper-arsenic sulfide that typically forms in hydrothermal ore deposits and is commonly associated with other copper and sulfide minerals. Cerro de Pasco in the Peruvian Andes is a historically important mining district with complex polymetallic mineralization and is particularly known for its diverse lead, zinc, copper, and silver minerals.
