Emmonsite crystals from the Emperor Mine, Tombstone, AZ, USA –  micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen with Emmonsite crystals from the Emperor Mine near Tombstone, Arizona, USA, displays a very characteristic appearance of this rare tellurium mineral. On a light, partly quartz-rich matrix, yellowish to orange-brown Emmonsite occurs as fine crystalline coatings and aggregates.

The Emmonsite crystals are small but clearly visible, giving the surface a lively and finely textured appearance. Individual crystal faces can be observed under magnification, while the overall crystalline nature is evident. The warm tones of the Emmonsite create an attractive contrast with the lighter matrix, making the specimen visually appealing.

Geology & Origin

The Emperor Mine near Tombstone is part of a historically significant mining district known for a wide range of silver, lead, and tellurium minerals. Emmonsite is a rare iron tellurite mineral that forms secondarily through oxidation processes of tellurium-bearing ores. Such mineral associations are typical of the complex oxidation zones in this region and are highly valued by collectors due to their rarity.
