This unique specimen consists of several small Emeleusite fragments stored for protection in a transparent capsule. The individual pieces display light beige, cream to slightly pinkish tones and varying fine-grained textures. The material comes from Igdlutalik, Greenland, Denmark.

Geology & Origin

Emeleusite is a rare sodium-lithium-iron silicate and is one of the mineralogical specialties associated with alkaline rock complexes. The Greenland locality of Igdlutalik is known for alkaline rocks and an unusual assemblage of partly rare minerals related to the complex magmatic development of the region.
