Geology & Origin
The Eifel is one of Germany’s best-known mineralogical regions and is particularly characterized by its volcanic history. Numerous mineral species occur in the volcanic rocks, tuffs and ejecta of the region, including many characteristic mineral formations in cavities, fractures and volcanic inclusions. The volcanic areas of the East and West Eifel are especially well known for their considerable mineralogical diversity.
