Top Dundasite crystals from Ohneaux, Ardennes, Belgium – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen shows Dundasite crystals from Ohneaux, Ardennes, Belgium. The surface of the matrix is covered by a light to whitish fine crystalline coating that contrasts beautifully with the rusty brown to ochre base.

The Dundasite crystals are clearly visible and form dense fine crystalline aggregates, giving the surface a slightly sparkling crystalline texture. Their even distribution across large areas of the specimen creates a balanced yet lively appearance.

Geology & Origin

Dundasite is a rare secondary lead aluminum carbonate mineral formed in the oxidation zone of lead deposits. It develops through the alteration of primary lead minerals under the influence of carbonate rich solutions.

The Ardennes region in Belgium is well known for a wide variety of secondary mineral formations, especially from historic ore deposits. Ohneaux is a classic locality for Dundasite and produces characteristic finely crystallized specimens appreciated by collectors.
