Duftite crystals from Cap Garonne, Var, France – micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen shows Duftite crystals from Cap Garonne, Var, France. Numerous small bright green crystals are scattered across a dark brown to rusty matrix, creating a striking color contrast.

The Duftite crystals are clearly visible and finely distributed across the surface. They appear as small well defined crystal aggregates with a vivid green color and slight luster. Their even distribution and strong coloration give the specimen an attractive micromount appearance.

Geology & Origin

Duftite is a secondary copper arsenate mineral formed in the oxidation zone of copper deposits. It develops through the alteration of primary sulfide minerals under the influence of oxygen and arsenic rich solutions.

Cap Garonne in southern France is a classic locality for secondary copper minerals and is well known for its colorful and diverse mineral associations. Micromount specimens from this area are especially valued by collectors for their aesthetic crystal formations.
