Dioptase crystals from the Inspiration Mine, Gila Co., Arizona, USA, Gerd Tremmel collection– small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This normal size specimen features vividly green Dioptase crystals occurring in dense, locally carpet-like aggregates on a light to brownish matrix. The crystals are clearly recognizable and mostly show short, well-defined forms, giving the surface a lively, granular crystalline texture. Bright turquoise to emerald-green hues dominate, creating a strong visual contrast with the host rock. Overall, the specimen represents a very typical and visually appealing example of this highly sought-after copper mineral.

Geology & Origin

Dioptase is a copper-bearing cyclosilicate that forms primarily in the oxidation zones of copper deposits. The Inspiration Mine in Gila County, Arizona, is regarded as a classic American locality for Dioptase and other secondary copper minerals. Specimens from this area are especially valued for their intense coloration and distinct crystal development. This piece originates from the Gerd Tremmel collection and reflects the mineralogical significance and quality of this well-known deposit.
