This cabinet specimen shows Diomignite from Tanco, Manitoba, Canada. The piece displays a light, mostly colorless to slightly milky appearance with a compact, massive structure.

The mineral exhibits a fine grained to compact crystalline formation with slightly translucent areas. Individual faces are only partially visible, but the surface clearly shows a crystalline character. The structure appears dense and homogeneous, with a subtle luster on fresh fracture surfaces. Overall, the specimen has a calm and mineralogically interesting appearance, especially suitable for systematic collections.

Geology & Origin

Diomignite is a rare lithium borate mineral that forms in pegmatitic deposits. It develops under specific geochemical conditions in highly evolved granitic pegmatites.

The Tanco Mine in Manitoba is one of the world’s most important deposits for lithium and rare elements and is known for producing a wide variety of rare minerals, including Diomignite.
