This micromount specimen shows Devilline crystals from the New Cornelia Mine near Ajo, Arizona, USA. The piece displays an attractive color contrast between the brown to reddish matrix and the vivid turquoise blue crystals of this rare copper mineral.

The Devilline crystals appear as small but clearly visible, intensely colored aggregates on the surface. They show the typical strong blue to turquoise coloration and stand out clearly from the surrounding rock. Despite their small size, the crystals are well defined and give the specimen a very lively and collectible appearance. The crystalline character is clearly visible and creates an appealing level of detail for a micromount specimen.

Geology & Origin

Devilline is a rare hydrated copper sulfate that forms secondarily in the oxidation zones of copper deposits. It develops through the weathering of primary copper minerals under oxidizing conditions.

The New Cornelia Mine in Arizona is a well known copper deposit and produces a wide variety of secondary minerals, including rare species such as Devilline.
