Descloizite crystals from the Tsumeb Mine, Otavi Mountains, Namibia, Gerd Tremmel collection – 3 micromounts as unique piece

This lot consists of three micromounts with Descloizite crystals from the Tsumeb Mine. The crystals display the characteristic brown to reddish-brown coloration typical of Descloizite and are each attached to small, light-colored matrix remnants. Despite their small size, the crystal aggregates are clearly recognizable and show a compact, well-defined appearance. The combination of documented provenance and classic habit makes these micromounts especially attractive for systematic collections of rare vanadate minerals.

Geology & Origin

The Tsumeb Mine in the Otavi Mountains, Namibia, is renowned worldwide for its exceptional diversity of secondary oxidation minerals. Descloizite forms there in the oxidation zone of lead-bearing ores under vanadium-rich conditions. Analytically confirmed and early collected specimens from historic collections, such as the Gerd Tremmel collection, are of particular scientific and collector interest, documenting classic formation processes of this unique deposit.
