This small cabinet specimen features Descloizite crystals from the C+B Vanadium Mine in Arizona, USA. Numerous small, lustrous crystals in warm brown to reddish brown tones are scattered across the dark, compact matrix, accompanied by occasional yellowish aggregates. The distribution of the crystals across the surface gives the piece a lively yet balanced appearance.

The Descloizite crystals are clearly visible and well developed. They occur in dense coverage and display an attractive vitreous luster that contrasts nicely with the matte matrix. The crystallization is clearly recognizable and gives the specimen an aesthetically pleasing and highly collectible character.

Geology & Origin

Descloizite is a vanadate mineral belonging to the adelite descloizite group and forms in oxidized zones of vanadium rich deposits. It commonly occurs together with other secondary minerals in arid environments.

The C+B Vanadium Mine in Arizona is a classic locality for vanadium minerals and is well known for its diverse and vividly colored secondary formations. Specimens from this locality are highly valued by collectors for their quality and characteristic appearance.
