Dawsonite and Ferromagnesite crystlas from the Slany Mine, Czech Republic – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen features Dawsonite and Ferromagnesite crystals from the Slaný Mine, Czech Republic. Numerous clearly visible crystals are developed on a drusy matrix, giving the piece a lively and highly contrasting appearance. Colorless to slightly gray fine crystalline coatings are combined with striking white fibrous aggregates and yellow to honey colored crystals.

The crystals are well developed and show a variety of habits, ranging from fine crystalline coatings to radial and granular aggregates. This combination creates a visually diverse specimen with interesting textures and fine details.

Geology & Origin

Dawsonite is a rare sodium aluminum carbonate hydroxide that commonly forms in sedimentary or hydrothermally influenced environments. Ferromagnesite, an iron rich variety of Magnesite, typically develops in carbonate rocks under specific geochemical conditions.

The Slaný Mine is known for its diverse carbonate mineral formations and produces a range of aesthetically appealing and scientifically significant associations. Combinations of Dawsonite and Ferromagnesite like this are especially valued by collectors for their variety and structure.
