Davidite-(Ce) from Olary, WA, Australia – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen shows Davidite-(Ce) from Olary, Western Australia, Australia. The piece presents as a compact, massive unit with a dark nearly black base color and partially yellow to brown weathered areas creating a striking contrast.

The surface appears dense and irregularly structured. Distinct crystal forms are not developed in this specimen, instead it shows a massive habit with a fine grained texture, which is characteristic for this complex oxide mineral.

Geology & Origin

Davidite-(Ce) belongs to a group of complex oxide minerals containing rare earth elements and uranium components. It forms in metamorphic and hydrothermally altered environments and is commonly associated with pegmatitic or iron rich rocks.

The Olary region in Western Australia is known for its ancient, strongly metamorphosed rocks and a wide variety of rare minerals. Specimens from this area are highly valued by collectors due to their unusual and scientifically significant mineral phases.
