Datolite crystals from Road Widening, Oderhaus/Braunlage, Germany– miniature specimen as unique piece

This interesting Datolite specimen originates from the well known road widening locality near Oderhaus and Braunlage in the Harz Mountains of Germany. The piece displays a bright, finely crystalline Datolite aggregate on dark matrix. The crystals form a dense sparkling coating with clearly recognizable crystalline structure, creating an attractive contrast against the surrounding rock. The combination of the light crystal surface and dark matrix gives the specimen a pleasing natural appearance that is especially desirable for collectors of classic German mineral localities.

Geology & Origin

Datolite is a calcium borosilicate mineral that commonly forms in hydrothermal veins and contact metamorphic environments. The road widening locality near Oderhaus/Braunlage became known among collectors for producing a variety of Harz minerals, including attractive Datolite specimens. The mineral is valued for its diverse crystal habits and its significance as an indicator of hydrothermal mineralization processes.
