Dalyite crystlas from Gjerdingen, Norway – micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen shows Dalyite crystals from Gjerdingen, Norway. The piece is presented on a light, finely crystalline matrix with embedded dark, contrasting mineral components.

The Dalyite crystals appear as small, embedded to slightly exposed crystals and stand out clearly due to their dark color against the lighter background. The combination of fine grained matrix and scattered crystals gives the specimen an interesting and detailed structure despite its small size.

Geology & Origin

Dalyite is a rare potassium zirconium silicate that typically occurs in alkaline igneous rocks. It forms under specific geochemical conditions and is therefore found only at a limited number of localities worldwide.

Gjerdingen in Norway is a classic locality for rare minerals from alkaline rock complexes. The region is mineralogically significant and known for a variety of unusual silicate minerals.

This table is for general information and orientation, although the sizes of the stones may vary. In addition, this specification is handled differently from region to region.
