Cyanophyllite crystals from Genna, Letmathe, Sauerland, Germany – micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen shows Cyanophyllite crystals from Genna near Letmathe, Sauerland, Germany. The piece stands out due to its vivid coloration with intense green to bluish green areas contrasting nicely with the lighter matrix. The surface appears finely structured, combining earthy and crystalline sections.

The Cyanophyllite crystals are clearly visible and occur as fine, partly acicular to crusty aggregates. Despite the small size of the specimen, the crystal formations are well developed and give the piece an attractive, lively texture typical of secondary mineral formation.

Geology & Origin

Cyanophyllite is a rare copper aluminium sulfate hydroxide mineral that forms in the oxidation zone of sulfide deposits. It develops as a secondary mineral through weathering processes and is often associated with other copper bearing minerals.

The locality Genna near Letmathe in the Sauerland region is a classic German occurrence for secondary copper minerals. These deposits are well known among collectors for their colorful and aesthetically appealing micromount specimens.
