Curetonite xls crystals from Colconda, Humboldt Co., Nevada, USA, Gerd Tremmel collection – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This normal size specimen features Curetonite as small, dark-colored crystals embedded within a light, coarse-grained matrix. The crystals are clearly recognizable, though modest in size, and stand out sharply due to their dark coloration and well-defined outlines. The matrix is predominantly massive and irregularly textured, providing a strong visual contrast that highlights the scattered crystal occurrences. Overall, the specimen presents a characteristic example of the typical paragenesis of this rare mineral.

Geology & Origin

Curetonite is a rare secondary mineral that forms under specific geochemical conditions, commonly associated with oxidized ore environments. The Colconda area in Humboldt County, Nevada, is a classic locality renowned for a wide variety of unusual and rare mineral species. This specimen originates from the Gerd Tremmel collection and represents the mineralogical significance and collectability of this well-known American locality.
