This miniature specimen shows Cuprite crystals from the New Cornelia Mine, Ajo, Arizona, USA. The piece immediately stands out due to its intense bright red color, which is typical for Cuprite and gives the specimen a very strong visual presence. The surface appears finely textured to slightly earthy with dense mineralization throughout.

Geology & Origin

Cuprite is a copper oxide that forms in the oxidation zone of copper deposits. It develops through the weathering of primary copper sulfides and is commonly associated with minerals such as Malachite, Azurite, or native Copper.
