Creaseyite crystals from the Tiger Mine, Mammoth-Saint Anthony, AZ, USA – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This rare small cabinet specimen displays Creaseyite on a colorful matrix from the famous Tiger Mine in Arizona. The specimen is characterized by light green to yellow green mineral coatings that contrast attractively with the brownish to violet gray host rock. The Creaseyite crystals occur as fine crystalline aggregates and coatings that provide the specimen with an interesting texture and lively appearance. The combination of rarity, classic locality, and attractive mineralization makes this piece a noteworthy collector specimen.

Geology & Origin

Creaseyite is a rare copper lead iron silicate that forms in the oxidation zones of copper-rich ore deposits. The Tiger Mine near Mammoth-Saint Anthony in Arizona is one of the classic localities for this mineral and has produced some of the best-known specimens worldwide. Weathering of primary copper ores led to the formation of numerous secondary minerals with striking colors and unusual mineral associations. Because of its rarity and its occurrence at only a few significant localities, Creaseyite is highly valued among collectors of rare secondary minerals.
