Geologie & Herkunft
Cornetite is a rare copper phosphate that forms in the oxidized zones of copper deposits under secondary conditions. Its characteristic blue green color is typical of copper bearing minerals from this paragenesis. Likasi in the Shaba (Katanga) region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is a classic locality for Cornetite and is well known worldwide for high quality and vividly colored specimens.
