Copiapite crystals from Copiapó, Chile – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen with Copiapite crystals from Chile displays an intense yellow to golden yellow surface that almost completely covers the entire piece. The color appears strong and uniform, with fine sparkling reflections that give the specimen a lively appearance under light.

The Copiapite crystals occur as very fine grained densely intergrown aggregates forming a uniform crystalline surface. Individual crystals are not clearly defined, yet the crystalline structure is evident and typical for this mineral. The compact formation results in a closed and aesthetically appealing appearance.

Geology & Origin

Copiapite is a hydrated iron sulfate that forms in the oxidation zone of sulfide deposits, especially through the weathering of pyrite. The Copiapó region in Chile is a classic locality for secondary sulfate minerals, which develop under arid conditions and are often notable for their intense coloration.
