Cookeite crystals from Araçuaí, Brazil – micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen with Cookeite crystals from Brazil displays a very colorful and aesthetically appealing combination of intense orange to yellow crystal coatings on a light sparkling matrix. The contrast between the vivid colors and the clear to slightly milky crystalline base is particularly striking.

The Cookeite crystals occur as fine densely intergrown aggregates forming a uniform crystalline surface. Individual crystal faces are partly visible and reflect light vividly. The formation appears compact yet clearly crystalline, giving the specimen an attractive micromorphology.

Geology & Origin

Cookeite is a rare lithium aluminium silicate from the chlorite group, typically forming in pegmatitic environments. The Araçuaí region in Brazil is well known for its complex pegmatites, which produce a wide variety of rare and visually appealing minerals. Formation usually occurs during late stage pegmatite development under hydrothermal conditions.
