Connellite, Conichalcite, Juanitaite; Gold Hill, UT, USA; 1 flat
Connellite, Conichalcite and Juanitaite from Gold Hill, Utah, USA – 1 flat
A varied selection of mineral specimens featuring Connellite, Conichalcite, and Juanitaite from the well known Gold Hill locality in Utah. Characteristic are the vivid blue green to intense green color zones, occurring as irregular and partly crusty coatings on a light to grey matrix. The mineralization often appears finely distributed or as surface coverings, creating a lively and high contrast overall appearance.
Geology & origin
Connellite, Conichalcite, and Juanitaite are secondary copper and arsenate minerals that form in the oxidized zones of ore deposits. They develop through the weathering of primary sulfide minerals and are commonly associated with other secondary mineral species. The Gold Hill area in Utah is known for its complex mineral assemblages and the occurrence of numerous rare secondary minerals formed under arid conditions.
