Conichalcite and Juanitaite from Gold Hill, Utah, USA – 1 flat
A varied selection of mineral specimens featuring Conichalcite and Juanitaite from the well known Gold Hill locality in Utah. Characteristic are the bright green to bluish green color zones, often appearing as irregular, earthy to crusty coatings on a light quartz rich matrix. The mineralization ranges from finely distributed areas to more intense, surface covering zones, creating a vivid and high contrast overall appearance.
Geology & origin
Conichalcite and Juanitaite are secondary arsenate minerals that form in the oxidized zones of copper deposits. They develop through the alteration of primary sulfide minerals and are commonly associated with other secondary copper minerals. The Gold Hill area in Utah is known for its complex mineral assemblages and the occurrence of numerous rare secondary minerals formed under arid conditions.
