Cobaltkoritnigite crystals from Wechselschacht, Richelsdorf, Hesse, Germany – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen with Cobaltkoritnigite crystals from Wechselschacht, Richelsdorf, Hesse, Germany, displays a strikingly intense coloration with bright pink to vivid reddish coatings on a dark matrix. The colored areas are widely distributed across the surface, giving the specimen a very distinctive and eye-catching appearance.

The Cobaltkoritnigite crystals occur mainly as fine crystalline aggregates and crust-like coatings. Individual crystals are only distinguishable under magnification, but the crystalline nature is clearly present. The vivid coloration, typical of cobalt-bearing secondary minerals, makes this specimen particularly attractive and highly collectible.

Geology & Origin

The Richelsdorf mining district in Hesse is a classic German locality known for cobalt, copper, and iron mineralization. These deposits formed in hydrothermal veins, where numerous secondary minerals developed through weathering and oxidation processes. Cobaltkoritnigite is one of these rare cobalt-bearing phosphate or arsenate minerals and is highly valued by collectors due to its intense color and rarity.
