This small cabinet specimen features Cobaltaustinite crystals from Dome Rock, Western Australia, Australia. The piece displays an intensely colored surface with vivid violet to purple crystals spread across the matrix. Geologie & Herkunft
Cobaltaustinite is a rare calcium cobalt arsenate belonging to the austinite group and forms in the oxidation zones of arsenic and cobalt-bearing deposits. It develops through secondary processes in which primary ore minerals are altered by oxygen-rich fluids. The Dome Rock region in Western Australia is known for its complex oxidized ore systems and produces a wide variety of rare arsenate minerals.
