Geology & Origin
Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper silicate that forms in the oxidation zones of copper deposits—often in association with malachite, azurite, or quartz. Malachite itself is a basic copper carbonate that also forms as a result of the weathering of primary copper ores. The vibrant green to turquoise colors of both minerals are due to their high copper content.
Namibia is renowned for its diverse and colorful copper secondary minerals. Famous localities such as the Tsumeb Mine and deposits in the Erongo region have produced striking mineral specimens for decades. The offered material reflects the typical features of these origins: strong colors, attractive textures, and excellent workability—perfect for collectors and creative applications.
