Geology & Origin
Heligoland is geologically characterized by its red Buntsandstein rocks. Various secondary and vein minerals occur within fractures, cavities and mineralized zones in this rock. Chrysocolla, Baryte and Calcite are all recorded from Heligoland, with the blue to turquoise Chrysocolla providing a distinctive contrast to the red host rock. The specimens in this flat document different forms of this locality-specific mineralization.
