This oxidized miniature specimen from the famous Tombstone area shows yellow to yellowish-green zones indicative of Chlorargyrite and Mimetite. The surface is finely textured and partially coated with a reddish-brown layer. The contrasting colors give the specimen a striking visual appearance.
Geology & Origin:
The Emperor Mine near Tombstone, Arizona, is a classic locality known for secondary silver and lead minerals formed in the oxidation zones of silver-bearing ores. Chlorargyrite (horn silver) forms through the weathering of primary silver minerals, while Mimetite appears in arsenic-rich environments. Such associations are typical of the mineral diversity in this historic mining region.
