Childrenite crystals from Lafra da Ilha, MG, Brazil – micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen with Childrenite crystals from Brazil shows an attractive radial crystal aggregate in warm brown to orange brown tones. The crystals are set on a lighter matrix and form a rosette like structure that gives the piece a particularly aesthetic and harmonious appearance.

The Childrenite crystals are very well developed and clearly recognizable. They display prismatic to slightly wedge shaped forms and are arranged in a radiating pattern around a central point. The lustrous crystal faces reflect light and emphasize the strong crystalline character of the specimen.

Geology & Origin

Childrenite is a rare iron aluminum phosphate that typically forms in granitic pegmatites. It commonly occurs in association with other phosphate minerals and develops under late magmatic to hydrothermal conditions. The Minas Gerais region in Brazil is world renowned for its pegmatite deposits and its wide variety of rare and well crystallized minerals.
