Embedded Chevkinite (Ce) crystals from Surka, Oppland, Norway – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen with Chevkinite-(Ce) crystals from Norway shows a compact yellowish to brownish matrix with embedded darker mineral portions. The surface appears irregularly structured and displays a natural mineral texture enhanced by varying color tones.

The Chevkinite-(Ce) crystals are embedded and only partially visible. No clearly free standing crystals are developed, but crystalline areas can be identified within the matrix, reflecting the characteristic nature of the mineral. Overall, the specimen presents a geologically interesting and authentic appearance.

Geology & Origin

Chevkinite-(Ce) is a rare cerium rich silicate belonging to the group of rare earth minerals and typically occurs in magmatic rocks such as syenites or pegmatites. The Surka region in Norway is known for complex geological settings and the occurrence of rare mineral phases formed under specific geochemical conditions.
