Chernovite (Y) crystals from Cherbadung, Binntal, Switzerland – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen with Chernovite-(Y) crystals from Switzerland shows a brown to grayish brown matrix covered with numerous small well developed crystals. The surface appears lively and finely structured, with densely packed crystals creating a uniform slightly sparkling appearance.

The Chernovite-(Y) crystals are clearly recognizable and form a fine crystalline drusy surface. Despite their small size, the individual crystals are well formed and give the specimen an attractive texture with a distinct crystalline character. Overall, the piece presents a balanced and detailed aesthetic.

Geology & Origin

Chernovite-(Y) is a rare yttrium arsenate belonging to the monazite related mineral group. It typically forms in alpine fissure systems and hydrothermal environments under specific geochemical conditions. The Binntal region in Switzerland is one of the most renowned localities in Europe for rare minerals and is especially known for its exceptional diversity of scientifically significant mineral occurrences.
