Chalcostibite from Ghar el Azuz, Morocco – miniature specimen as unique piece
This attractive miniature specimen displays Chalcostibite in a characteristic combination of intensely blue colored areas and lighter associated minerals. The vivid colors create a striking contrast and give the specimen an exceptional visual appearance. The mineral is clearly developed and stands out prominently from the surrounding matrix. Individual crystals cannot be clearly distinguished in the Picture, but the crystalline nature of the mineral is readily visible.
Geology & Origin
Chalcostibite is a rare copper antimony sulfide belonging to the sulfosalt mineral group and typically forms in hydrothermal ore deposits. The Ghar el Azuz locality in Morocco is known for a variety of rare copper and antimony minerals and has produced numerous remarkable collector specimens. Complex geochemical conditions within the deposit led to the formation of diverse sulfides and sulfosalts, some displaying exceptional colors and mineral associations. Specimens from this locality are highly appreciated by collectors of rare ore minerals.
