Cerussite and Pyromorphite crystals from Tanzfleck, Taunus, Germany – miniature specimen as unique piece

This colorful collector specimen from the classic Tanzfleck locality features an attractive association of Cerussite and Pyromorphite on a strongly oxidized ore matrix. The specimen is characterized by vivid yellow to orange mineralized areas that create a striking contrast against the darker matrix. Numerous crystal faces are visible throughout the mineralized zones. Crystals are clearly developed and give the specimen a lively and highly detailed appearance with excellent display value.

Geology & Origin

Cerussite (PbCO₃) and Pyromorphite (Pb₅(PO₄)₃Cl) are secondary minerals formed within the oxidation zone of lead-bearing deposits. Both minerals develop through the alteration of primary lead ores, especially Galena. The Tanzfleck locality in the Taunus region is a well known German occurrence for such secondary mineral assemblages and has produced many interesting collector specimens containing various lead minerals. The combination of Cerussite and Pyromorphite reflects the complex geochemical processes within the weathering zone and makes specimens like this particularly desirable for collectors.
