Berborite crystals from Saga 1, Tvedalen, Norway – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen features Berborite in a characteristic habit from the well-known pegmatite district of Tvedalen, Norway. The crystals form clearly visible radiating to fan-shaped aggregates on matrix, creating an attractive finely textured surface. These radial crystal groups are well developed and typical of Berborite. The marked areas highlight the best crystal sections and make observation of this rare borate mineral easier.

Geology & Origin

Berborite is a rare beryllium borate mineral that forms in granitic pegmatites. The pegmatites of Tvedalen in Vestfold are among the most important European localities for rare beryllium and borate minerals. The Saga 1 occurrence has produced numerous uncommon mineral species and is well known among collectors specializing in pegmatite minerals. Berborite commonly occurs in radiating, fibrous or rosette-like aggregates and is considered a desirable collector mineral due to its rarity and association with these famous pegmatites.
