Top Carminite crystals from Tsumeb, Namibia – micromount as unique piece

This micromount displays Carminite crystals from the famous Tsumeb locality in Namibia, embedded in a strongly contrasting matrix of light quartz areas and darker, iron-rich zones. The Carminite occurs as finely developed reddish to orange crystal aggregates that stand out clearly from the surrounding matrix. Under magnification, the crystalline structures are distinctly visible; their intense coloration and irregular distribution give the specimen a very characteristic appearance typical of Tsumeb material.

Geology & Origin

The Tsumeb deposit is world-renowned for its exceptionally diverse and complex oxidation zone of lead, copper, and arsenic minerals. Carminite forms there as a secondary mineral under oxidizing conditions, when arsenic-rich solutions interact with lead-bearing phases. The unique geochemical environment and long formation history have made Tsumeb one of the most important classic localities for rare arsenates, particularly for micromount specimens.
