Cafarsite and Asbecasite crystals from Cherbadung, Binntal, Switzerland – miniature specimen as unique piece
This attractive miniature specimen from the famous Binntal district features several well-developed Cafarsite crystals in dark brown to nearly black color on light matrix. The crystals display strong luster and the sharp crystal forms that are characteristic of Cafarsite. They are accompanied by Asbecasite and other alpine associated minerals, making the specimen particularly interesting from a mineralogical perspective. The crystals are clearly visible and stand out beautifully against the pale matrix, creating a highly aesthetic collector specimen.
Geology & Origin
Cherbadung in the Binntal region is one of the world's most important localities for rare arsenate and silicate minerals. The alpine fissures of this area formed during the uplift of the Alps and provided ideal conditions for the crystallization of exceptional mineral species. Cafarsite is a rare calcium iron arsenate silicate valued for its distinctive crystal morphology. Asbecasite is another rare calcium titanium arsenate silicate and was first described from the Binntal area. The association of both minerals on a single specimen makes this an especially desirable collector piece from one of Switzerland's most celebrated mineral localities.
